  • Enrollment and placing of children in the day home, excellent agreement forms the providers sign with the parents, also follow-up consultation and support
  • Assistance to providers in arranging backup care.
  • Collection of fees and payments to providers.
  • Referral of parents to appropriate community resources, eg. subsidy (See “Links”).
  • Newsletters and training opportunities for interested parents.
  • Opportunity to participate on the Agency’s Parent Advisory Committee.

What Does the Monitoring of a Day Home Include?

  • Formal safety checks of the day home 2 times per year and informal safety checks at each visit.
  • Observation of the interaction between the provider and the children.
  • Observation of the children and help to the provider to develop observation skills.
  • Discussion of programming, nutrition, appropriate children development and other essential information.
  • Provide training (Core training to new providers, Step Ahead or Canadian Family Child Care Training to more experienced providers).
  • Follow-up contact with parents.
